Earlier in this month Google was fired following thousands of personally registered videos from a
Belgian media agency, captured via a Google Home phone or smartphone by Google Assistant.

The tapes were given by a whistle blower of Google employees in an effort to disclose the work of Google.

American Giant has therefore stopped every sound review of  Assistant in Europe – which CNBC has verified.

We are in touch with the Hamburg data protection authority and are assessing how we conduct audio reviews and help our users understand how data is used. Shortly after we learned about the leaking of confidential Dutch audio data, we paused language reviews of the Assistant to investigate. – Google spokesperson

The problem has definitely been raised internationally. The study led Google to recognize that a tiny proportion of discussions had been hired from staff to hear to enhance the precision of speech queries. Although we sometimes realized that businesses did this already, the study created serious issues with customers and encouraged EU officials to engage in it.

Knowing that the personal tapes of clients do not contravene EU rigid customer confidentiality regulations is definitely a breach. Google acknowledges that records do not relate to a consumer, but those transmissions can occur even when the sleep word “Hey, Google” is mistakenly activated by a word or sentence which sounds similar.

As we interlink our life more digitally, we see much greater consideration for and control of our information. US and European regulators also want to look at the procedures of worldwide technology businesses, as they are in charge of so many customers.
